Something disturbing in the restroom.

A CANDY DISH IN THE RESTROOMThe photo you see is from the ladies restroom in the building where I work. To the right, you see something normal for a restroom. A toilet, a toilet paper dispenser (empty 50% of the time). And to the left, something strange that appeared today.

A little table. Upon which is a fake sprig of flowers, some business cards for Mary Kay, some back issues of Cosmo and InStyle. And a candy dish.

A candy dish.

There is a candy dish in the ladies restroom.

More disturbing than the question of who would put a dish of candy in the ladies restroom is the question of WHO WOULD EAT CANDY FROM A RESTROOM?! Especially a public restroom. Who is sitting on the can and thinks, boy I sure could go for a peppermint right about now! If you’re cranking one out while reading a gargantuan issue of InStyle, I’m pretty sure your mouth is not the orifice in need of freshening.

When I’m in there, all I can do is stare at the dish and wonder why? And if I ever see any candies missing, I will be both shocked and repulsed. Folks, if you are kissing a lady, ask if she’s had any peppermint candy from a public restroom today.

Unrelated, ViolentAcres nicely sums up my thoughts on the holidays. I buy one book each for three small children in my life. That is the extent of my holiday spending on gifts. And when I came to the decision a couple years ago to refuse receiving gifts or giving gifts (to adults), I have never felt happier or more free during the holidays.

I like the idea of the table, and as a loo-reader, love the idea of stacking mags on it. But the sweets (candy) .. I have to agree, that sounds off. Surely all the bacteria in the air from the poop would settle on the nice innocent looking sweeties?

    Ew.

I like the table and flower idea, it adds ‘colour’ to the room and is pretty. But sweets? (candy) That’s just strange. Bacteria yummy eh?!

…That’s just plain creepy, I’m sorry. Why not have a little make-up vanity table in there too right next to the toilet so you can fix your make-up while pooping.

LOL That’s very creepy. Then again, it’s a good excuse for either a lawsuit or to get out of work for a day or two.

Old ladies. I know old ladies would go in there and dump that candy dish right in their purses.

thats really weird, i usually leave a ham sandwich or some sort of pasta dish, you know, out with the old in with the new.

Haha, who would eat that candy? Seriously, there must be so much bacteria infested germs on that from just even being in the bathroom.

The little table is pretty nice, giving the bathroom more “style,” but I agree. A candy dish by the toilet is pretty gross. Next to the sink might be another thing… the candies should at least be individually wrapped or something.

    eek! That’s gross.

Last comment from me today. That is so freaking disgusting. I would have thrown the whole thing out and written a note about how unsanitary that is.
