So who is this Angela character anyway? Well, I am a Web Design Extraordinaire (heh), based in northern Minnesota. Yes, it’s cold here. No, I don’t like it. My Finnish and Norwegian ancestors were insane for migrating here, and I’m even more insane for still living here.
I’ve been around since May 13, 1982. I was a straight-A student with her nose in a book all the time. When I was little, I wanted to be a ballerina, and then a primatologist, and then a geneticist. Somewhere along the line, I became a web designer who cannot dance at all. But I still love apes and genetic anomalies. Go figure. It’s my ultimate dream to own a stand-up comedy club. Sigh. Someday. Until then, I’m learning about business and finance when I feel like it, and I try to make some connections and friendships among the comedy world.
I spend a great deal of my time on my laptop. Working, reading hilarious articles, and looking at stupidly funny and inappropriate pictures. Yes, I’m one of those people.
I have a dog and three cats. Which is awesome, if you love animal chaos. I like to take the dog on walks and adventures. And the cats are old and love to sleep, so we spend our quality time in bed. I take a lot of pictures of them all. Actually, they’re almost exclusively what I take pictures of. I’m more of a “cat person”, but I am slowly learning how to be a dog-owner. Sadie is a 2+ year-old lab mix, with a ton of energy. She didn’t have much training or discipline in her life before she came to live with me in July 2009, so we’re working on that. We’re both training each other: she’s teaching me to be a patient dog-owner, and I’m teaching her to be a good dog who doesn’t eat vomit and chase rabbits into the abyss.
In early 2010, I mysteriously obtained a boyfriend. Which is really weird for me. I am so not the girlfriend type. But I guess we’re doing alright. A couple of adorable nerds, having fun and enjoying each other’s company. His name is Adam, and for some odd reason, he likes me. Yay!
I like to vacation every year in New York City. Eating and people-watching are among my favorite activities there.
More coming soon…
I have been doing web design since 2000. It started as a hobby in my plentiful free time when I was a stay-at-home bum. I started learning mostly through looking at code in other websites and experimenting with it. Since 2004, I have been employed full-time as a real paid web designer! I am primarily self-taught and peer-taught, even now. That’s the beauty of web design: everything you need to know is on the internet and most of it is free!
You can check out some of my work and a résumé at angelakoskela.com.
Ninjela.com has been around since November of 2008. “Ninjela” is a hybrid of ninja and Angela. I obtained the nickname at work by my pal Rob, due to being ridiculously fast at building and updating websites.
